Guillemots are diving birds, often foraging in nearshore waters as deep as 30 meters where they capture benthic fish and invertebrates.They lay 1 or 2 eggs, incubate for approximately 30 days, and chicks leave the nest after 35-40 days.Construction Time Lapse Bend Science Station, in collaboration with Oregon State University-Cascades, is constructing a new facility on the Bend campus.The building is expected to be complete in Spring 2018.By combining critical thinking skills with inquiry-based learning, students learn in a unique, highly motivating environment. During periods of heavy rain in the winter, Lookout Creek is transformed from a clear stream to a muddy torrent.This is when logjams are built and destroyed, boulders are tumbled, and the stream bed rearranged.It is a collaborative project by the Ocean Mixing Group and Atmospheric Sciences Group in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences.This webcam is mounted on Weniger Hall pointing East down Monroe Avenue.
Pigeon Guillemots (Cepphus columba) are a seabird that normally nests in rocky crevices and burrows along coastlines from California to Alaska.Check out the Octo Cam website for more information and additional cameras.The Marys Peak Observatory was set up to provide a visualization of the beauty of natural fluid flows as part of active research examining these flows in both the ocean and the atmosphere.Once completed, the state-of-the-art facility will provide current and future students with a transformative educational experience across a full range of forestry and natural resources degree programs.
